Has Anyone Tried Zoladex. I Just Started And I Am Having A Really Hard Time With It.
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just started zoladex. I am feeling horrible and the hormone imbalances are creating so many problems... I hate all of the side effects. I am having the hardest time taking all of my meds on top of it. But my insurance doesn't approve Lupron.

Hello Cailey, (I just replied to another user regarding the same question - so I hav copied and pasted the same response in here)

I personally (along with many other people I know who have used Zoladex) had an absolutely awful experience. It has long-term serious side effects, which most doctors don't even advise you on, or say its a "safe" drug.
I would highly recommend following invisibleiconic on Instagram. Alex has podcasts and a lot of information regarding Zoladex on her account/in her highlights.

Sorry, I don't want to frighten you, but its a SERIOUS drug and doesn't actually have any scientific evidence that it works for endometriosis. Yes, it puts you into chemical menopause, which might help the cyclical period pain. However, Endometriosis is not a reproductive disease, its a whole body disease.

Zoladex deteriorated my bones that much that I was considered to have the same level of bone density as someone with severe osteoporosis. I broke my leg (tib and fib) in 4 places, during a small slip in mud, which defintely shouldnt have caused me to break anything! This was 10 years after my Zoladex treatment. Basically it has life long side effects.

I sincerely hope you dont have any side effects, however I would do a lot more research and reach out to Alex on invisibleiconic.

hi. I have been given Zoledex about 6 times in the last 14 years. the symptoms are crappy, but they keep the endo from starting or flaring up. the downside is the weight gain, feeling as tho every bone in your body is breaking, bruising easily and constantly being tired and having crappy skin. The worst thing however is the hot flushes and the mood swings. unless there is something out there that can help, Zoledex is the best defence postop. maybe ask your doc about Visanne.

zoladex gives you aches and pains and makes you feel old, but it is supposed to stop your period so theres no relapse of the period in order to heal. this is the first time I went in for an op and didn't take zoladex and boy am i suffering with the period pains and bloating is ridiculous
