I have been taking Visanne for 3 months and it has been amazing for the pelvic pain and bleeding. Prior to being on Visanne I had been bleeding for 2 consecutive months with no stop and was hospitalized 3 times for the pain.

I was finally referred to a gyno and she prescribed Visanne which started working immediately to my surprise and was such a relief. I was not told that this was not a birth control pill and was just told that they wanted to change my pill. I realize it stops your ovulation… read more

Members shared mixed experiences with Visanne for endometriosis, with many reporting that while it initially provided excellent pain relief and stopped periods, symptoms like pain, spotting, and mood changes often returned after several months of use. Several members described concerning side effects including severe hair loss, headaches, fatigue, nausea, and chest pain, with some ultimately choosing to stop the medication despite its initial benefits. A recurring theme was confusion about Visanne's contraceptive effectiveness, with members clarifying that while it suppresses ovulation and makes pregnancy very unlikely, it is not impossible, and one gynecologist reported seeing only one pregnancy in many years of prescribing it.

I am on visanne and at first I experience no pain, but everything hit me at once, started spotting for days as well, had almost 5 pregnancy scares that would later be followed by spotting and I'd rule out being pregnant, pains are hard to handle, chest pains, physical stomach pain, difficulty breathing, leg pain, fatigue, weak hands, the list just goes on, I am going to stop taking visanne for my own good.

As an update, Ive been on visanne for over 2 years now and it still seems to be helping for the most part with some pain and bleeding at times. From my understanding, it puts you into a sort of menopause to stop menstration so although it isn’t a birth control, it would be very unlikely to fall pregnant while taking it.

Am on my fourth month of taking visanne and it was all smooth but now the pain is back and am also at a loss on what's happening. I've not had my menses since I started taking it.

I did have side effects including headaches and fatigue but for me the biggest problem was hair loss in scary amounts. You have to try and weigh whats best for you - do the side effects outweigh the benefit it gives you? Please dont ever feel you “have” to stay on something that doesnt work for you. That is completely your choice and if your doctor cant accept or understand that and try to work with you, I would be looking around for another doctor. Just my two cents based on experience with pushy doctors. The only person who can really advocate for your health and well being is you! Hoping things get easier for you! Xox
