Was Anyone Diagnosed With Endo After Having A Cyst Removed And Are They Connected?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've always had a lot of pain around my period (since I was 11) but was told that it was normal for a woman to be in pain and that I probably just felt more pain than others. Now on the 8th March I will be having a laparotomy to remove a 10cm cyst on my left ovary. I have been told that my ovary will also have to be removed as it looks as if the cyst has completely destroyed it. It turns out that this cyst has probably been growing since I was in my mothers womb but the doctor says it might also… read more

Hi, I had a laparoscopy in January to remove an endometrioma cyst, my gyno suspected endo and he was correct, so it was removed at the same time. I had horrific pain during periods! Endometrioma cysts are a result of endometriosis of the ovary. Do you know what type of cyst you have? xx

My cyst was found on emergency ultrasound. I recently had come off the pill after several years. I started almost immediately having Right Lower Quadrant abdominal pain. At times this pain was quite severe. While waiting for a scheduled ultrasound months in the future, I had presented to an emergency department with profound RLQ pain. It took 4 days to diagnose the problem in spite of abdominal xrays, CT scans and a good physical exam. Finally, the emergency ultrasound showed a endometrioma in my Rt Fallopian Tube. I had been bleeding into it therefore it was expanding in size and stretching the fallopian tube. It finally caused a torsion or twisting of the tube including the ovary.
This required urgent surgery. In the end, they saved my ovary but I lost my right tube. I was also told I had Stage 3 Endometriosis. For someone who rarely experienced a menstrual cramp, I was surprised. After researching Endo, I did have signs in the form of low back and pelvic pain that were never greatly explained.
Going forward, I went back on the pill and went on to have 3 laparoscopic surgeries to laser the Endometriosis. Things are better but not perfect. Waiting for menopause is my new goal.

They saw mine on a spinal mri in august. Bilateral cysts. Kissing ovaries. I was diagnosed last month. Endometriomas mean stage 3 or 4 endo.

Yep, I had a 10cm cyst on my left ovary, during surgery they confirmed it was an endomitrioma because of its sticky, chocolatey inside. That was in November (:

I'm sorry to hear that :( I was meant to have had my op yesterday (to remove the cyst/ ovary) but after waiting 5 hours for blood test to come back; it was cancelled! Now have to wait 2 more weeks before I have it done.
