Exercise Regimen?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been really wanting to do some light exercises everyday but I have no idea where to begin.

Can anyone recommend simple exercises and how often you do them? There's a bunch of exercise apps out there but I'm not sure which is the best.

Thanks in advance!

I tend to work out a lil once everyday or even twice. I usually just do 12 squats and rest then repeat 3 more times. Taking it easy and repeat with lunges.

Walking is a great place to start. It really does exercise the whole body. Try a 20-30 minute walk a day, at a quick pace.

Also Pilates is something that I really enjoy for muscle tone. Try Blogilates beginner videos on YouTube. <3

Currently, I work out 3-5 days a week when my health allows; I do mostly strength training with two days of moderate intensity cardio (usually treadmill or elliptical). That's just to kind of give you a frame of reference for what I do. I'm not sure what your goals are, but I think a great place to start is with walking and bodyweight/light dumbbell strength exercises. You could do them consecutively or on separate days. You could start with bodyweight for things like squats, lunges, glute bridges, hip hinges, incline or wall push-ups and eventually add weight or resistance with dumbbells or resistance bands as you become stronger if you want. You would need a set of dumbbells for some exercises, such as bench press, rows, biceps curls, and triceps exercises. To pick an appropriate weight, you would want something that you can do 8-10 reps for and still be able to do maybe one or two more if you had to (but not a lot more than 1-2 bc then the weight may be too light). I will admit to being the person in Target on more than one occasion testing out the different weights :) I know we tend to associate things like the bench press with big loaded barbells, but you can do these things with any weight, even if it's just 2 pounds. There are varying opinions on this, but I would say 3 sets of 8-10 reps each is a decent place to start. With walking, I'd say start with maybe a 10-minute walk 3-4x a week and gradually increase your time, maybe 5 minutes a week until you get to 30 min or something like that.

I'm not sure what your experience is with all of this, so my apologies if my answer is too simple or is overwhelming. If you have any other questions I'll be happy to help :)
