Letrozole
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doc prescribed Letrozole for estrogen supression. I have been on it 9 days and have been experiencing fullness in my ovaries and uterus. They are very swollen and tender, they fell like they are going to pop. I couldn't sleep due to the pain and barely made it through my work day. My mood has also been effected and I have been more depressed. I called my doctor and they offered to switch to Ayegestin, but its up to me. Has anyone experienced a decrease in side effects with Letrozole? I don't… read more

Its so good to find some Letrozole sisters! I was dxd with adenomyosis and likely endo fairly recently after decades of search. I started Letrozole with progesterone 1.5 months ago and its been a bumpy ride. I had joint pain and tenderness right at the start but the bloating and swelling were gone. The joint pain has faded but I started into constant hot flashes (20-40/day) and they doubled my progesterone then added in premarin. Shortly after I've gotten huge swelling and crazy ovarian tenderness, my questions now what and which is this from are going unanswered. I really want to know if its another side effect to wait out or this is it. I missed last month's period. Right now I am so uncomfortable I can't work a full day. So I can say expect side effects to change joint stiffness for me went away but I can't say about the current craziness and hope the rest of you have more input!

I am on day 8 of taking it. I do feel the fullness. Almost how I felt during my IVF process. I’m hoping my body just gets used to it. I think it is too early to tell if there is weight gain. I really hope not. I’m on the endo diet. I’m also taking a nerve pain drug in the category of an antidepressant which could be helping me not feel depressed. I’ve notice a little joint pain which I believe is from the letrozole. I was on aygestin and it caused me to retain water. My ankles were really swollen. I hope your body adjusts and it works for you. It is funny how we pretty much started at the same time. Maybe you can take have the other prescription I’m on to help with the depression. I look it up and get back to you. Please keep in touch

Thank you so much for info. It has been hard finding someone on here that is on Letrozole. I’ve been on it a month. Had my 1st period. Will the medication eventually stop periods?

I started on Letrozole about a month ago, TOTALLY understand the fullness. It will subside. I thought I was gaining weight, but it turned out to be water and some SEVERE PMS. My estrogen levels were already naturally VERY high so the letrozole hasn't worked 100% for me, I'm still get a period, which is awful. I noticed that I was hangry for about the first 3 weeks, but it went away as well. It will get better!!!

Thank you for the feedback. It’s nice to talk to someone else on the same medication. How are your periods? I have not had one yet. I too have had some joint pain. I’ve been On Letrozole for about 3 weeks. Has it helped with daily pain?
