What Vitamins Do You Take?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was reading a list online and it suggested Vitamin C, omega 3 -fatty acids, L Carntine and Calcium D Glucerate. I have never taken any of these but I sometimes take iron and cranberry pills. Any recomendations of vitamins and/or brands?

I've spent so much money on vitamins and supplements over the years I totally understand your question. Keep in mind that my endo is pretty severe, and many of the things I'm on or have been on are for specific symptoms. The following may or may not be helpful for your particular situation. I was taking a good multi-vitamin called Ritual designed for women that gave me energy and made me feel good before the specialists switched everything up on me. I always take Vitamin C from rose hips as it's easier to absorb than calcium carbonate made from crushed sea shells. The Vitamin C boosts my immune system as I'm always tired from the endo and don't need any other bugs, too. I can feel a difference when I'm off of it. I also had good luck with cranberry with all the bladder problems I had before surgery. It eased symptoms that felt like urinary tract infections but I now know was endo on my bladder. Right now I'm taking turmeric, which reduces inflammation from the endo lesions, and ginger for pain. I find that turmeric works better than ibuprofen for me in handling pain, if that is a challenge for you. I also take fish oil and iron supplements. Fish oil helps with digestion (I have bowel problems related to my endo) and the iron with absorption of nutrients. These were prescribed by my bowel specialist who works with my endo specialist. None of my supplements are over the counter. I use Gaia for the herbal supplements and buy the others from my doctor's office. I have a friend who's an herbalist. She's the one who recommended the turmeric for my pelvic pain and later gingko biloba when I was having terrible brain fog from the drug that threw me into menopause. When I my doctor found out I was on them, he had read studies about the effects of both supplements and told me to keep taking them for what I was taking them for. I can honestly say my vitamins and supplements have played a crucial role in helping me feel healthy and well along with the meds and surgery. A consult with an herbalist, nutritional counselor, or doctor could be a great way to find what's right for your body. Good luck figuring out what works for you!
