How Long Goes It Take For Birth Control Pills To Help With Pain From Endometriosis?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was recently diagnosed with Endometriosis and my doctor recommended that I start taking Birth Control pills. I was reluctant to take the pill for several reasons but I said I would try because the pain every month is unbearable. How long does it normally take for the pill to help ease the pain?

I'll be honest, I started taking the pill when I was 12 for the pain. I'm now 20 and the pill never helped the actual pain. The pill helps to manage your period and stop the endo from growing more by making you bleed less and less frequently. The only pain relief from pills has been after my surgery and using the pill to stop my period to avoid the pain rather than treat it.
