Endometriosis On The Bowel

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Had laparoscopy, they removed endo found, but DIDNT remove the endo they found on my bowel. Anybody else experience this? Been told they didn't want to risk it. Not sure how to feel as I'm still in constant pain.

Hi I experienced the same thing. In 1984 I had open surgery & they found endo behind the bowel & bladder. They said bc of where it was that they thought they better leave it alone. They removed a lot of adhesions & endo. It was a 6 hr surgery & I was put on hormones bc I already had a hysterectomy. I was feeling pretty good & not much pain but every so often I would go in for a lap to remove adhesions. Now after all those years they say there is something where the uterus use to be, baby uterus was the term & gastric obstruction, & something else with the stomach. I know what your going through. I'm going to the Mayo Clinic but this going to be a long drawn out thing I think bc I have to wait too long to see a GI dr. & then like you say, you will need a bowel dr. there. GI dr.s only do certain procedures like endoscopy & colonoscopy's & sigmoid so then I would need a proctologist probably to be there for the surgery. We have a lot to go through when your messing with the bowels & i'm scared to death of that sigmoid procedure. I wish you the best. Keep me posted. hugs tigreyes

Hi Endo can grow anywhere thats the problem if it was too risky getting the endo on yr bowels then thats sucks but at least they got other ones that weren't on yr bowels.

That's not good, leaving it just makes it worse. I had it in my bowel but v bad, it was fused to the uterus. It also grew inside it so had a resection. Id get a second opinion on that if I were you from an Endo specialist xx

Hi I think I've read they are scheduling a second op? This will probably be to remove the endo from the bowel. They usually need the bowel surgeon there if they operate on the bowel which needs some organising xxx

You need to see a vetted endo excision specialist listed on Nancy’s Nook Facebook page. They will remove all endo found. I am sorry you are still experiencing pain.
