Lenexa, KS

Hi there! I am brand new to this community, but am desperately searching for some help. I was recently rushed to the ER after falling to the ground in excruciating pelvic pain. I have always had pain, but never experienced it like this and was quite sure I was dying (not to be over-dramatic, just honest). Bitter sweetly, all testing came back normal. As pain continues to leave me minimally active and unable to work though, signs and symptoms continue pointing toward endometriosis or something of… read more

Hi there! I am also in KS. I had a laparoscopy for diagnosis without removal (it was on my bladder and bowels so my OB wouldn't touch it). After a lot of research, I did make the trip to the CEC in Atlanta for excision surgery. It has changed my life. The travel wasn't terrible- delta flies direct there. I also looked into Dr Young in St Louis but his waiting list was very long. I had my 6 month anniversary a few weeks ago- am back to running, living and have been mostly pain free for several months. Happy to meet or chat more. Good luck! If you haven't you should read Dr Seckins book- the dr will see you now.

Please take a look at Nancy's Nook FB page for a list of vetted endo specialists. Don't allow the average Joe GYN to perform surgery of any kind, when endo is suspected.

Thanks for the reply @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member ! Do you mind me asking how long after the diagnostic laparoscopy you had the excision surgery? Since I haven’t been diagnosed, I am trying to weigh out if it is worth doing the diagnostic surgery here in Kansas and then traveling for excision if anything is found. Otherwise, the plan was to travel for both the diagnosis and excision so it can be done at one time if anything is found...

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member, thanks so much for your reply and if I can ever get my energy back I might take you up on the offer to meet! I’m so sorry to hear that you had a similar ER experience recently /: What a small world as I’m actually from Chicago originally! I haven’t had much luck finding someone in this area to do the surgery, so my husband and I are even contemplating traveling back to Chicago. I’ll definitely let you know if anyone local comes up though!

Briana - I live in Kansas, but haven’t had surgery here yet. My last surgery was in Chicago where I used to live. I had an oddly similar experience tonight at he ER. If you find someone you like, please let me know! Also, if you ever want to meet up just to talk to someone experiencing their Endo journery, let me know. I’ve had this disease for 10 years now and have been through ups and downs.
