@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member the reason is that MRI's aren't definitive (plus they are very expensive), so if it comes back as clear then you'd still have to go on to have a lap to get it diagnosed 100%, so for a lot of people it would be a waste of time and money for the NHS. For me it showed up lesions 'indicative of endo' which for me, is endo as they know I have it. Also picked up adenomyosis which is something they weren't able to pick up during surgery, so that was really useful. Also picked up the endometrioma which again wasn't picked up in surgery, so the 2 have worked really well for me. Ultrasound came back clear...i swear I could have an elephant in my pelvis and it wouldn't pick it up....!!

I’ve always heard that the only way to tell is by the surgery. I’ve gotten many internal ultra sounds to check for cyts and asked about endo. No doctor has ever told me they seen or that they could even tell that way. Or even an MRI. I was so scared to do the surgery bc I was unsure but passing out from the pain so I didn’t have much of a choice. I’ve lived different states and had different doctors and no ones every said that to me. If you can let me know. I believe mine is back! I rather not have a surgery to find out. They might be able to see an endometrioma cyst, but if you have no cysts that doesn’t mean you don’t have endo. It just “helps” if you have one because they might be able to see it on ultrasound - and even then some techs don’t know how to spot endometrioma they might just say it’s a normal cyst

No they cannot, definitive diagnosis is through laparascopy 😕
