Yes, endometriosis can cause back pain and GI issues. For many years, when I was not on birth control, my back always hurt before my period, and I had GI issues once I began my cycle. At the time, I did not realize these were red flags for endometriosis. Even though I am on continuous birth control now, I have both issues all the time because my disease has progressed substantially during the last year.

Definitely ask your doctor for the diagnostic laparoscopy referral. It’s your body and you know it better than anyone. Best of luck to you getting the answers you’re seeking.
