Hi,
I had the Mirena inserted during a laparoscopy last year in April. I was having a lot of trouble with bleeding. 3.5 weeks out of 4 I was bleeding and in horrible pain. The Mirena made me bleed for about 4.5/5 months after it being inserted. BUT! it has honestly been the best thing for me.
I reacted badly to the pill (all different types), I tried the Implanon aswell but with no luck. Now it's been over a year and I am very rarely bleeding. When I do bleed it is nowhere near as heavy or as constant. It has helped with pain aswell.
Every woman's body reacts differently to the Mirena. Talk with your GP or gyno and see what they say. If you do decide to give it a shot, please give it atleast 6-9 months to settle. I see so many women just giving up after 2 months without giving it a chance to work.
Goodluck! I hope everything works out well for you, xx

My primary recommended but since I had issues with Mirena I decided against it.

The copper iud does not contain hormones - the mirena does. Copper tends to cause excessive heavy periods and bleeding - mirena stops periods in most women. Copper lasts 3 yrs and mirena 5 yrs - loads more on differences however these are the main few - I have a mirena to stop me periods to try and prevent my endometriosis from returning - I still however suffer with periods so not sure how effective overall it’s being - both times none of my endometriosis shows on an ultrasound so more laparoscopic procedures needed.
