Mirena Helpful For Mood Swings?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Post-baby, I’m finding my period pain to be blessedly minimal - however, my premenstrual and day 1 mood swings are out of control. Wildly unhappy in the lead up to and on day one of my cycle - crying and feeling utterly despressed. I’m wondering if the Mirena might help to regulate my hormones and thus my moodswings. Any experience with this sisters?

Unfortunately I’ve heard more negative than positive reviews of Mirena. I just say that because my doctor said it hasn’t no side effects which isn’t true. I was on a progesterone only pill (not a iud) and had blood clots so I just switched To a regular birth control pill this week. But I hate knowing it isn’t doing much for me but it is way brtter toleratrd

I've had the mirena for 18 months and I really hate it.
Terrible moods, hasn't helped pain etc.
It doesn't agree with everyone, and unfortunately doctor's praise it - best to voice concern with GP to get it changed. I was told it would get better with time but if anything it's gotten worse.

I have had the mirena for almost a year and a half i can tell you that its better on my mood swings than any other birth control I've tried in the past! It's very important to keep in mind sudden weight gain or loss can cause it to move out of place or even move up and cause severe medical issues. If you do decide to get one know that placement should be checked periodically. If it wasn't for my endo and upcoming hysterectomy surgery id have kept it in the full 5 years.

I have had the mirena for almost 8 months. I also felt depressed in thelead up to my period. I have to say the coil has not helped this symptom at all. Everyones experiences are different with the mirena i find however. I took me 3 years to decide to try it as i realised i just would not know how it would work out without trying it. x
