I had my surgery early morning yesterday, and has not been able to eat since coming back. The vomiting stopped after a few hours with the help of zofran, but I’m still feeling nauseated 30+ hours after discharged from surgery center. I’ve urinated and passed gas. Just feel really bloated, nauseous, and tired with sharp pain around my belly button and a slight fever. Is this normal after lap? How long does it take to feel better enough to resume normal diet after laparoscopy?
If you ever have a fever after surgery you have to let your Dr. know. My second surgery I had a mild case of cellulitis which needed antibiotics. The sharp pain is probably from the gas the put into your body cavity to expand to see. If you can, take GasX to relieve that. The vomiting May still be effects of anesthesia, but with fever I’m not sure—so always have to check. Be well! Praying for your quick recovery
My fever is only 100 degrees. Do I really need to let my surgeon know? I thought fever is concerning only if it’s over 102 degrees.
My last lap I couldn’t eat really anything for a week. The first lap was even longer. The gas from surgery that causes the bloating is the worst! Your body has just gone through a trauma so hurting and being nauseous are side effects but if you ever feel like somethings wrong call the doctor!
