Trying To Avoid Another Laparoscopy
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just want to know if I eat more clean (close to vegan style & avoid alcohol) if the cysts will go away? (or stay at bay)

I had laparoscopy in March 2018 and felt good all summer and this past week (maybe 2), I've had pain again. The extreme fatigue is not back, but I do feel the urge to go to washroom often again.

I'm so discouraged. I don't want another surgery.

My symptoms severely decreased from a clean anti-inflammatory diet but inevitably the disease found me anyway. While it didn’t stop things from growing for me it did greatly decrease the intermittent pain.

Good luck!

I promise it gets easier. I look at certain food items and just see pain. At first I didn’t want to give up my glasses Of wine or nachos but every single time I make an exception I regret it.

I believe eating a strict diet and avoiding alcohol can definitely help keep the symptoms of endo more under control. It is hard -- you have to be ready to give it up and it's not easy when you're a social person and keep thinking just one drink doesn't hurt. It's worth trying though. I've been able to get my symptoms more under control by avoiding gluten and alcohol and being more aware of my stress levels. Good luck I hope you start feeling better!

For people talking about over eat problems while in pain (and it goes for mood swing or depression), I recommend taking warm herbal tea infusion. Preparing the tea and having something warm to ingest bring up the security and the recomforting effect we crave for while wanting food.

Drink water when you’re hungry. I’ve been drinking ensure sometimes. Mainly because I’ll refuse to eat if the only options are triggers

As for protein salmon and fish/shrimp are actually pretty good anti inflammatories.
