The nurse will tell you afterwards what she thinks is best. Definitely ask her. She goes over your home care and that will be involved I am sure.
And with the painkillers, well thats will be up to you. Personally I stay on mine for the first two weeks at full strength. And then I start to slowly lower the dosage. Just be careful when coming off them. As your insides take months to heal. So it's definitely good to see your doctor if you haven't done it before.
Please don't be too worried about your op. The staff will look after you and answer your questions. They will make sure you are comfortable.
If you are worried about being constipated then ask for a constipation medicine before you leave. I got given one, i always have after an op. And they definitely help.

It depends on what you're having done laparoscopically. My understanding is that after hysterectomy, even if laparoscopic, docs often say 6 weeks. After my lap to remove a cyst, they said five days. It may also depend on your meds and other factors.

I'm very concerned about pain meds bc they make me nauseated & I have a 4 hr drive home &
I don't want to get constipated. I can take Tylenol but that won't help & the ibuprofen I can't take bc of stage 3 kidney disease. I guess I have to play it by ear.

Thank you so much. I'm glad things are looking up. This will be my last surgery too. I have had enough in my life time. I really wish you the best. I don't have a smart phone so I communicate by computer, I will leave an update as soon as I am able to get to the chair & type. lol.
