Anyone Have Excision Surgery Only To Have Their Endometriosis Return, If So How Long Did It Take To Come Back?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had extensive excision surgery recently by a renowned specialist, however I can feel the same pains and symptoms coming back, is it possible for it to come back this quickly after such surgery. Look forward to hearing about your experiences

Mine came back really fast after excision surgery too. It turned out I had really bad gut dysbiosis and that was feeding it. Once I treated my SIBO my pain decreased. I didn’t even think my gut issues were that bad, I would get constipated for a day a few times per month and would occasionally get bloated, making me look pregnant. It was at the bottom of my list of issues when I went to a new naturopath but thankfully she knew that was the root cause of my pain.

Mine also came back, but in a different area and came back pretty badly. My OBGYN initially wanted to just do medical treatments - birth control plus IUD, then IUD plus Orilissa, but none of it was enough. So she referred me to a specialist. If you have pain that's come back or increasing after, be open and honest. It means it's either back or your current treatment isn't right. After my most recent excision, I still had to go back on hormone therapies after only six months (birth control AND IUD). but that made a MASSIVE difference. Are you on anything at all since surgery?

The scan picked up the endometrioma cyst - it wouldn't have picked up the endometriosis tisue.

I thought scans didn’t pick up endometriosis tissue? What kind of scan was it?

I had a scan a couple of months after my surgery and my endometrioma had returned.
