Sex
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else find sex to be very uncomfortable and painful is certain positions, (doggy/laying on side or stomach and partner enters vaginally from behind rather than ontop)? Any suggestions as to how to make it less painful? I find that I have such a low sex drive, and it is so unpleasant and uncomfortable which makes me sad because I want to have more sex with my boyfriend to feel that connection, but the pain makes me never want to. I feel like I’m failing him as I am not meeting his… read more

Thanks for your feedback! I’m really lucky I can talk to my boyfriend about this and he’s super supportive and always wants to make sure I’m okay. It’s hard to not feel bad, but to have that support makes it easy. I’ve tried tylenol, advil, midol and none of those seem to help, even a heating pad doesn’t do all too much. If I find something that helps, I’ll let you know :)

Hi! I experience everything you are describing: sex is really really uncomfortable and painful/sex drive is low/wanting to have sex. I am still trying to figure things out. So far I have learned that if certain positions are painful, I won't do them. Your partner wants you to feel good too. I am always communicating with my husband and making sure he knows when I am in pain whether or not we plan on having sex. If you really want to do certain positions, lubricant and communication are a must. If your partner loves you, he will respect what you need. I have yet to explore cbd (its on my list), but afterwards I apply my hot pack and/or TENS unit to my pelvic region. Taking ibuprofen sometimes works- though I am far from understanding what works and doesn't work just yet, so if you figure anything out please let me know! I completely understand how frustrating it is wishing you could be with the person you love.

I’ve had the laparoscopic surgery 3 months ago and found after 4 weeks, sex was not painful. However, it has come back. I will look into the therapy, thanks!!

I will say on this front I'm very lucky because sex has never been painful for me. Sometimes it gets a bit uncomfortable but that's only if I'm really close to my period otherwise I'm blessed with this symptom.
I hope u can find something that works.
Stay strong.
Hugs ❤️
