Treating Hormonal Acne Without Birth Control
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello ladies. Birth control immediately stopped my hormonal acne years ago and I came off a year ago. I have been breaking out badly since then and I’m a model so this is completely impacting my career. Evening primrose oil worked for a month and now it doesn’t. Also my skin scars easily so all of the pimples, cystic and whiteheads, are leaving dark marks that take over a year to fade out. Anyone have any suggestions? Please and thank you!

Also, make sure to use spf 30+ every 2 hours daily, otherwise acne can scar. I have this issue, and now i use sunscreen daily!

Watch dr. Dray on youtube! She recommends salicylic acid and benzol peroxide (leave on face as mask 1x a week). You could also try differin. Also, dont use scrubs, use salcylic acid daily instead. She says scrubs damage the face.

I would like to add that I’m very good with my diet. I’m on the AIP diet. I’ve tried many things but the only thing that seems to help is to actually get my hormones in balance. I’m having difficulty with that through just diet alone. I use all natural, gentle and organic products which I know won’t make things worse. When I was on birth control, I ate very bad and only used body wash and body lotion to care for my face. My face was crystal clear. I started breaking out again when I got off the pill and I’m looking for an alternate way to balance hormones now because I will never go back on synthetic ones

Thank you so much! This was helpful. I break out all month long :( So I’m doing homemade masks throughout the month such as turmeric and honey. I’ve tried the black masks before. Great advice about being careful on set. Thanks :)

I try to focus on doing scrubs and masks before the period pimple week starts. They aren't gone, but it has generally reduced the size of the forehead offenders. Black peel off masks are way better than pore strips in my experience. I also model and found out that baby wipes as a quick make up remover can actually cause acne, so make sure to use actual make up remover wipes and clean your brushes/watch the MUA clean their brushes. I bring alcohol in a spray bottle to sets just in case to sanitize the brushes. I used to over scrub and over tone my face to compensate for the make up, but an esthetician recommended I actually add a serum because drying it out so much was actually making it worse. I hope you find a solution:)
