I currently have the Mirena, which was placed after my laparoscopy in January. Birth control pills were stopped at this time (I was suffering terribly despite taking them leading up to the surgery). I am now dealing with multiple ovarian cysts. I had an extremely painful episode last month which they concluded was most likely a hemorrhagic cyst, and now I have an even bigger cyst that is going to rupture at some point. I go for another follow-up ultrasound in a few weeks.

Yeah, I would definitely be suspicious about the type of cyst you have. My understanding is if they are endometriomas, or chocolate cysts, they need to be excised carefully in order to preserve the ovaries.

I had read this before my surgery, because there was one cyst Dr. Mosbrucker thought might be chocolate. Turned out to not be, but my left ovary was glued to my pelvic sidewall, so that explained that agonizing pain. 🙄

I understand. The Pill for me has gotten to be that way. I will actually stop all methods of BC for a month or two at a time, just because it feels like my body cant handle that much added hormones (lately 6 months of bc and then i need a break)
Thank you for your feedback! I was really hoping the Mirena would be a successful endo treatment for me, as I did not have a positive experience on the pill (gradually felt worse over the years). I may hold off on trying Letrozole until my follow-up ultrasound in a few weeks. I am struggling to get answers about what specific types of cysts I am dealing with.
I am not sure about that medication, however, my Doctor told me that some of my cysts as well as some polyps were a direct cause of the Mirena. And i only had mine in for about 4months. I hope you can get it figured out!
