Endo And Soda/ Lemonade?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So had a great day..then had a lemonade and now im in excruciating pain, real low terrible stomach pains..this has ALWAYS been the case with drinking soda and I havent had a soda since i was 11, I'm now 28, but I havent had a lemonade in years. Does anybody experience this and or know why it may cause so much pain. Also ive not been on here much bc I'm still waiting for my apt to discuss a possible laparoscopic surgery on August 22nd.

I’ve been trying to keep a food journal to see if anything in my diet affects my pain levels. Not sure if it’s related to GI issues or Endo. My pains seem so correlate with my ovulation and mensural cycles.

Oh, and I am having technical difficulties, but a friend of mine with interstitial cystitis says she can't have anything acidic. You may have said this already, but if you have IC, that can be contributing? My understanding from my surgeon is that endo and IC are "evil twins" and a lot of women with one have the other...

For the bladder symptoms, they say stay away from acidic foods including lemon. This can agitate the bladder.

For me, the soda definitely worsens the gas pains, which worsen the pelvic pain. I don't drink lemonade often and when I do, I drink it in very dilute amounts. I think for me it's too much acid and irritates my GI tract. That's just my theory.

But what's weird is sometimes I'll put a quarter lemon in some water and drink it. It helps because it's a mild diuretic and my feet swell thanks to my endo-related "pelvic congestion"

Basically, I gave up on trusting there would be logic years ago, but I still look for it! :)
