I do have a fairly lengthy list, but want to make sure I'm asking everything I might possibly need or want to know at my pre-op.
Thanks in advance!
1. What he or she plans to do in the procedure, especially if they plan on taking organs. If you want to keep your ovaries/uterus make sure that’s not in the plan. It shouldn’t be unless previously discussed but never hurts to make sure.
2. Will they excise or ablate the disease and will any disease be left behind it it’s difficult to remove. Ablation often results in temporary pain relief but excision can lead to a more permanent recovery. Most surgeons who aren’t trained in ablation won’t admit this though.
3. Recovery time/activity restrictions?
4. Post-op treatment plan
5. Asking for a referral to pelvic floor pt is good as often the pelvic floor becomes tight in the presence of endo and pt helps it to relax after the disease is removed
That’s all I can think of! Hope that helps!
Oh goodness, I bet you have all of these but here goes:
1. What is expected recovery time?
2. what are you able to do to reduce adhesion formation?
3. When could I resume pelvic floor physical therapy?
4. When could I resume exercise and how slowly did I have to go back?
5. Any specific diet recommendations?
6. How can I minimize and then wean off any narcotic pain medicines?
7. Do I need any follow up testing, bloodwork, or something like an ultrasound?
8. What else can I do for pain? Heating pack, cold pack, gentle stretching?
That's all I can remember asking now. Hope that helps.
