A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
What painkillers do you take during the periode? I have endometriosis and no painkiller helps me. the pain is so bad, sometimes I cannot even go to work.

Thanks

Taking midol only helps for about an hour, then it's back to painful again.. I have yet to find something that lasts longer...

The only pain killer that really gives me relief is codeine. You need a prescription to get it here but idk how it works in the US.
Yes, getting more check ups done sounds like a good idea. There may still be some endo left in your body. Good luck with your pain.

Thank you girls. Ibuprofen has become like a bonbon for me, does not help anymore. I take that as well with Buscopan, but literally no effect. Like today i am in bed all day suffering. I've had laparoscopy 3 years ago they removed my endomentriosis, but during that they saw that i had in the intestinal as well. On the day of my surgery we found out my dad had cancer..and i never went to check anything again about my endometriosis. but the pain got so worse as it was before surgery i think i should go again. But there is no way to heal endometriosis. My sister had it as well, only after giving birth, it went away. So sad to know there is almost nothing to do about it

The only OTC painkiller that even touches my pain is ibuprofen, as it's an NSAID. However, I can only actually take Tylenol due to liver stuff.

I’ve had very little success with pills so I changed my diet to anti-inflammatory and trying to exercise more and have seen some really improvement. I still have bad days but i went from popping pill like tik tacs to only taking one or two a month now. It’s worth looking into.
