Endo Appointment And Coronavirus Worries
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi ladies,

I've had a rough couple of months in terms of endo/pcos pain and symptoms. Theres talk of another surgery.

I've got quite a strong pain threshold but have had days where constant and paracetamol haven't taken the edge off.

My question is I've a gynae/pain clinic hospital appointment next week and I'm wondering if I should postpone?

I've family members telling me to avoid the hospital because of Coronavirus etc. I'm in NZ so its quite low numbers here.

If your hospital is able to keep seeing non-urgent patients (they'd call to cancel if that was the case) and you have no current symptoms, then if I were you I'd go to the appointment. I would stay 6 ft away from other patients and use lots of hand sanitizer. If things aren't bad there yet from a covid-19 perspective, then it's possible they could get bad in a few weeks, so I would go before the craziness hits so you can get seen sooner rather than later.

I think i saw another post on here but it said doctors do not consider endo as high risk because they say it doesnt effect our immune system. As for canceling or going to your appointment, if you have worries contact your doctor most of them are canceling appointments already of they think the patient can wait.

I just had a nerve block at my hospital where cases of corona are being treated. It is quite bad in the Uk but we are advised to avoid UNNECESSARY social gatherings. As long as the hospital has not cancelled I think it’s a good idea to attend as you have no idea on how many months the next appointment will be depending on how long the corona issue stays around for . It’s just my own opinion though, as I would definitely still attend I’m case I’m prescribed something ( meaning instant ) that might take the edge off during bad times . But of course the thought of going near hospital zones at periods like this is scary . 🤗
