I agree Orilissa is not a cure and side effects are very individualized plus you'll have to weigh the risks vs the benefits. If you have not already been surgically diagnosed, I would advocate for diagostic laporoscopy and endometrial resection (excision) surgery. Depending on your condition, the surgeon may recommend treatment with Lupron or Orilissa before/after surgery. Again it's a very individualized thing, but I would choose Lupron if I has the option before/after surgery. The Lupron gave me complete pain relief and my endo belly was no more! Of course this was not without side effects - hot flashes, insomnia, occasional night sweats, and hair loss/thinning hair (all symptoms of menopause meaning the drug did what it was supposed to do, put me in medical menopause). I did not have any other symptoms like bone pain, etc. Orilissa does have 2 different doses which may appeal to you. The lower dose did not work for me and the higher dose did not provide the same relief from the endo that Lupron did but the side effects are alot milder. The longer the treatment with GNRH drugs the higher the risk of bone loss.
I was on Orilissa for over a month. I experienced horrible side effects such as bone pain, severe nausea, vomiting, and headaches. I also had horrible sleep while on it. Please be aware of the side effects, such as liver failure and disease, bone density loss, and decreased ovarian reserve. I did not know about this when I started. The side effects alone were enough for me to quit. Every one is different, and you may not have the same experience as me, but please be aware of those side effects.
Also, Orilissa is in no way a cure for Endo. It is simply a medicine to mask the symptoms, which it did not do for me. Also know that this is the same thing as Lupron, just in pill form; just in case they offer it to you later down the road (almost all OBGYNs will).
If you are able to access and afford it, I recommend researching into an excision specialist. They are skilled to remove Endo through surgery.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!
My doctor is prescribing that for me soon.
