My OB/GYN Told Me That I Have A "polyp" And She Needs To "twist It Off." Is That A Normal Treatment? Does It Hurt?

I've had endo since I was a teenager. Lupron and multiple surgeries did not produce lasting results.

HTwist it off?! Ummm no... They go like they are going to do a pap-smear and they will go in and cut it off so they can biopsy it. Please don’t let her touch you and go find a new OBGYN because “twisting” is not how they remove a polyp and btw I got my 1 and only one removed last may and I now have 2 so they grow back and they are called uterine fibroids. So I definitely think you need to get a second opinion. Big hugs girl

I just had a polyp removed on Friday. I won’t lie. It was painful. I took Ativan and over the counter pain medications, and I was also injected with freezing, but I don’t feel that there was enough pain management. Knowledge is power, so hopefully, you’ll have a better experience! 💓

No that is not a technical term, I agree that you need a 2nd opinion & its best to get one from an Endometriosis specialist instead of a regular OBGYN. Unfortunately there's only about 100 specialists in the whole country so your Dr probably won't even know they exist. We usually have to find our own in the Facebook group Nancy's Nook Endometriosis Education. It's definitely worth it to research specialists on your own & get an opinion from them & also ask them about these "polyps" & if they can do either radiofrequency ablation to shrink them or myomectomy (surgical removal of fibroids). With myomectomy you'll need to have c-sections afterwards so better to have radiofrequency ablation if possible. Best of luck!
