Is Anyone Else Having Problems With Lo Loestrin Not Being Covered Anymore?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I called my doctor and was informed that my specific insurance wasnt the only one not covering lo loestrin anymore.

I feel your pain! I am on Altavera. Walgreens stopped stocking it. It was such a pain to call multiple pharmacies to find it in stock. I also had to constantly explain that I could not take a substitute med as per my doctor’s instructions. I finally found a cvs pharmacy in a Target store that stocks it.
Before I had prescription drug benefits, I used good rx coupons for my meds. Maybe that could lower the cost? Does your doctor have samples?
Hope you are able to get your meds. It is hard to have a painful disease without struggling to get the medication we need.

I used to be on lo loestrin and I liked it. I also had a huge success on beyaz- which I’m sure has a generic? Also maybe check planned parenthood to see if they can provide you lo loestrin for free. I think they give out free birth control or at least used to.
I’m also not sure if this helps but I know since loestrin had a low amount of hormones in it maybe you could try a progesterone only pill? Not sure though how that would effect you. I’m sorry :( my insurance didn’t cover any of mine that used to work for me so instead my OBGYN gave me 3 months of slynd until I get my IUD- which is also FREE- totally wasn’t expecting it to be free on my insurance but it is!

Well Lo lo doesnt have an actual generic. There are others that are some what like it but nothing that has been approved by the FDA. Im very pissed about it all tbh because its the only bc ive been on that has worked well for me. Ive taken over 7 different kinds to try.

It's no longer covered because there are others BCPs with generics. Gimme a break!!
