Confession: despite being a PT myself, my pelvic floor PT is not going great. I mean, I know a fantastic pelvic floor PT. . .who I've eaten lunch with for years. This is, um, way more personal than getting your blood pressure taken.

So, my current PT is complaining that I have excessive dryness of my vagina. (What else is new. So are my eyes, nose, mouth, skin, ears. . .if it has epithelial cells it's probably dry on me. I would not have been surprised if my GI doc had told me the inside of my… read more

Members responded to a question about managing vaginal dryness during pelvic floor physical therapy by sharing a variety of remedies and personal experiences with products that have worked for them. Several members recommended water-based lubricants, aloe-based products like Aloecadabra, hyaluronic acid, coconut oil, emu oil-based salves, and natural moisturizers like shea butter, with many emphasizing the importance of avoiding petroleum-based ingredients and choosing pH-balanced options. A recurring theme was the connection between dryness and underlying conditions like endometriosis and Sjögren's syndrome, with multiple members encouraging the original poster to discuss the widespread dryness with a rheumatologist for further evaluation.

Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies. I'm starting with coconut oil cause that's what I had and "Beating Endo" said it was fine. (I know there are pH concerns and didn't want to make anything worse with ill-advised home remedies.) I'll see where I go from there!

If and when you end up seeing a rheumatologist, the dryness issues would be good to mention. I know dry eyes and dry mouth are part of Sjogren's syndrome and some other autoimmune issues. I don't know too much about it, but it might be a part of the puzzle. Best of luck getting it figured out!

When I went through pelvic floor PT, I was also experiencing a lot of dryness. My PT recommended using a non scented, water based lubricant, which I was able to purchase through the PT office. She also instructed me to use clear syringes to insert additional lubricant. This helped tremendously with the PT exercises! Even years later, methods that I was taught through pelvic floor PT are still effective with consistently painful sex. If i was not aware of these techniques, I would honestly be fine if I never experienced intimacy ever again.

They tested me for sjogren's and the blood test was negative. Kinda want to see.the sensetivity/specificity for that blood test, though.
