Pads Vs. Tampons?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know I might sound crazy, but I have never been able to get myself to use tampons ever since I have had a period. Because my cramps are so painful & I rarely go out or am active on my period, I have never felt the need to use them. Some people may find it odd. I know how to use a tampon and stuff but I’ve only ever use a tampon once I think!? Is that crazy!? I feel like there is such pad shame sometimes, maybe that’s just my experience. I mean honestly it doesn’t matter because we deal with… read more

Oh thank goodness, I'm not the only who can't use tampons. I never could understand why my mom and sis used them. So uncomfortable and painful. I only use them for swimming if I feel up to it. I might be able to use them now that my cyst is removed but I'm not really interested in trying to find out. Too many bad memories.

I used to use tampons but now when i try use one it feels like there is an obstruction and i can't get it to go in. I asked dr and was told its caused by swelling during my period. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis

Thanks for clearing up my ignorance. Was curious how you could wash them.🤔. Definitely investing. Thanks @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member for posting the blog!

So there are different levels of absorbency…i got the highest that Knix has for all the pairs because I figure more protection is better! The instructions say just throw them in the washing machine but I do always rinse mine out (gross the first few times until you just get used to it!) in cold water because it may be a few days before I do a load of laundry and I don’t like the idea of that blood sitting in there! They are expensive for underwear but yes, if you keep in mind the savings on disposable products (and these are non toxic and environmentally friendly) the cost is justified. I am so much less worried about potential leakage. I use them only on spotting or light days and will feel dry all day (much more so than with a pad or panty liner)… on heavier days i use my menstrual cup or tampons and them as a backup/for when I take the others out.

Pads, tampons, diva cup, i use it all… to each their own. But ladies, a few months ago I started using the most LIFE CHANGING thing of all… period underwear!! I wear knix but there may be other brands. I cannot recommend these enough!!!!! I was so skeptical but then my sister got them and loved them and now I’ve had several friends get them on my recommendation. They are sooo much more comfortable than a pad, they absorb a lot so you feel dry, they also absorb odours (anyone else get a vinegary smell when bleeding?!) and they give you more confidence that you won’t leak! I love the night shorts and also have a pair of the high waist which somehow supports a huge bloated belly without any bands digging in. The rest of mine are bikinis which are great too! I started with 3 pairs and now have 7. Also great for those who spot frequently but randomly… just throw those on and dont worry about what’s happening down there. Seriously ladies, with these we can truly rule the world!!
