I've been on Visanne successfully for 3 years now. It shrank the 2 endometriomas I had in my ovaries. However, in the last few months I've been having moments where I feel really off/sick even that may last for a week. I'm currently not feeling well for like a week and a half now. My symptoms are dry mouth, dehydration, tiredness, shortness of breath at times, pain at side of head in temple area, bubbling feeling in chest area, nervousness, feverish feeling, disturbed sleep, chills, cold hands… read more
I've been given Amitriptyline and Propranolol to help with the anxiety and heart racing etc. It has helped with the symptoms I was having. Now I'm experiencing rubbing of the bones in my knee which is something new. Is anyone else experiencing this while being on Visanne?
I experienced same side effects after being in visanne for 18 months. Doc recommended takin 2 months break due to side effects but I must resume. Side effects were only bad recently for a few weeks but I’m definitely getting back on.
Hope they find something better with less side effects
It's funny. I've been on Visanne for over a decade now. You list symptoms that I've been experiencing to the tee. The problem is that I have another health diagnosis and I've not been able to tease out the side-effects of visanne from my other health problems. Two separate docotors have queried whether my use of visanne isn't the reason for me experiencing severe anxiety, severe irritability and suicidality. Last week I came off Visanne, it happened because I couldnt get to the pharmacy because I was too exhausted from experiencing other health difficulties. After 3 days of not taking Visanne this constant, painful and intrusive irritability that plagues me, lifted. It lifted! I took Visanne again for 3 days. But then it was back to square one of having hell in my head, immediately after taking it again. I decided then and there that I need to stop poisoning myself with this stuff. I physically couldnt take that day's Visanne because I was afraid of what it would do to me after seeing how much better I felt not having taken it. I was back to being so much better mentally. Just like that. Snap. Now I just have to deal with coming off this drug and finding some sort of vague replacement which probably wont work as well as it does for my endo and will have side-effects of its own. My body is in shock. I am freezing and shaking from cold. I have explosive diahorrea. My legs are struggling to walk. I am nauseous and constantly on the brink of vomiting at the moment. But, this is a tiny, tiny price to pay - for now - for something that for so long has caused such havoc in my life. This might sound hyperbolic. But honestly, this is how I feel about it seeing how I am on and off it. And remember that I have more than a decades experience of being on it. Gynae's are often not apt to listenening they generally say something like this: "Take it, it's all that really works for endo." And then the underlying message is: "Your head is not my problem." Or "How could it possibly be this severe".
