Endometriosis Medication
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone used birth control or the other medication out there for endometriosis? I’m afraid to start anything for my pain after surgery for the severe side effects that can happen.

Ok ill try to keep this brief. As far a birth control absolutely nothing controlled my bleeding or pain except the “Lupron Injection”. Which doctors usually suggest last and only if the bleeding is uncontrollable. (Which mines was because my fibroids were much worst then my endo) but wowzers on the hot flashes with that medicine your mood might go a bit crazy but it was better then any daily pill and much stronger then the Depo and for me the depo still had me bleeding like everyday! For pain management after ny surgery (im three weeks from having a hysterectomy so a bit different then a scrape per say) but im going to be super honest with you Oxycodin, and all the other drugs sucked and barely did anything and were so addicting. So i started ingesting edible marijuana with every meal a week after surgery. It sounds crazy but I havent felt better on the inside. At first I was bit too high to function because my body wasnt used to eating it like that and because it takes so long to kick it i tend to overdue it! But now thst ive got the hang if it i put a little weed butter in my meals and i dont get high as much it just eases my bowel pain. And inside pains that i could never quite identify. Not telling everyone to hey choose drugs but id say hey choose marijuana if you can. When you drink the weed tea it helps the bladder pain as well right after surgery! Sorry i know thats alot for me to say try weed 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m also 2 weeks post-op and going back to my doc in 2 weeks to put me on medication/pain management. Curious about what anyone else is taking too. Hope you are recovering well and get some relief soon!

After my excision surgery my pain was horrible. I was on Oxycodone for 2 weeks, which I was taking constantly because I could not handle the pain. For about 2 months after I was taking Norco on and off, only when it got bad. My surgeron placed a hormonal IUD during my lap, which caused me 4 months of daily horrible cramping. I’m also on the birth control pill. I tried Orlissa, but the side effects were horrible, I got off it about 3 weeks after. It has been 5 months since my lap and I still have really pain every day with it getting really bad about once a week, but all doctors have been refusing to prescribe me anything for it, so unfortunely I just have to suffer through with a heating pad and muscle relaxers. The worst of my pain is in my lower back.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I read so many reviews! I hope you find something that helps.

So you have had multiple surgeries and the pain keeps coming back?
