Hey friendos! I know everyone will be quite different and it depends on how extensive the surgery is etc, but just trying to get an idea of avg recovery time post lap? When could you go for a bike ride, lift weights, walk half an hour etc? My Dr said anywhere from 2-6 weeks off work (I’m a physio). I’m having 3 golf ball sized endometriomas removed, excision to optimise the pelvis/reproductive system, possible D&C and explore elsewhere to see what we’re dealing with for a more extensive surgerg… read more
Everyone is different, but 3 endometriomas sounds like a lot! Do you know if you have deep infiltrating endo as well? Are they only draining the cysts or are they removing them entirely and reconstructing your ovaries? Questions to go over with a physical therapist - they can give you a better idea of what your recovery might look like based on where you are at now and what your are having done. Recovery would probably be faster with physical therapy too. I would not be surprised if your surgeon states an overly optimistic time frame like a few weeks, but their time frame is less about your comfort and ability and more about preventing hernias and other post op complications. You will be given a weight limit - mine was nothing heavier than 15lbs for 2 weeks. I've been told for more intense surgeries, add 5 pounds each week post op (week 1 5lbs, week 2 10 lbs, week 3 15lbs and so on).
Aww sorry for your frustration… its so hard when you can’t get answers or adequate care. My ultrasounds were all transvaginal… so maybe try for that, and see if theres a place that specialises in gyne ultrasounds? I had to drive over an hour but the difference on ultrasound reports from the exact same type of ultrasound was astonishing when someone specialised did the US and also someone specialised did the report. Good luck!!
So even an ultrasound on the top pf the tummy anf pelvic area shows this? Because I got one of these in the past and they said that it looked like something was crowding your organs lol but they didnt know what and it was a clear scan 😂 lmao so bow this new gyno saw that I hadnt done this in a few years and now wants me to do one again but I feel thats a waste of time and I need a differnet test to fid endo like a transvaginal one maybe. I fele frustrated with doctors because I want to tell them what I need lol
Gabby, they can be seen on ultrasound … but I think it should be a place that specialises in gyne issues… my US & MRI from the hospitals and local imaging centres just said masses in adnexa region, but when i was sent to a specilaized place for gyne issues for US and sonohysterogram, they were able to specifically identify them as endometriomas with the sizes, and also identified a number of other key features of endo in my pelvic cavity. Unfortunately it can be limited with availability, depending on where you live. Good luck! (If you’re interested in more info on US and endo, check out Matthew Leonardi on instagram!)
Matisse, thank you for that…I am thinking 2-4 weeks is reasonable for me then. Wow I can’t imagine how nice it musf have been to get those MASSIVE cysts out of you, that is crazy. I’m so sorry to hear your 2nd surgery didn’t help at all… I hope you can get your life back someday soon 💕
