Pain Relief On Visanne
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone, I have been prescribed VISANNE for shrinking my endo and intense abdominal pains that I go through every single day. I am 5 days in but the pains persist. Has anyone on here used this drug similarly and how soon did you experience relief in pain? I really dont know how much more of this I can take. I am currently on sick leave and I dread returning to work next week as I can't see myself being very productive with this level of pain. My stomach gurgles then the pains follow. Thanks… read more

Please give it time to work for you. It's not a painkiller per se -- if you're in too much pain, take your trusted pain pill along with visanne. Although, from next periods cycle onwards you may start seeing reduced pain and less/no bleeding.

Visanne is usually prescribed for min three months to start with, because it takes a few cycles for it to start shrinking the endo cysts. For many, it takes even longer.

So, unless you see any actual side effects from the med itself (again, many people experience that), please continue the med daily, at the same time, for as long as your doc has prescribed it.

But yes, if there are any unbearable side effects caused by visanne (manifesting in different physical or mental health issues), do contact your doc immediately and stop taking it as advised.

Hope this help. Good luck!

I've been taking visanne too almost 3 months. It took around couple days to work too for me. Certainly reduce the pain a lot than not taking it. May be just give it a time to work ?
