Decapeptyl And Hormonal Crap (what Is Thiiiiis :'()?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I have suspected endometriosis, gynae is pretty convinced although I need a laproscopy to validate this. I was put on Decapeptyl for this and PMDD but it was like hell on earth. I wasn't informed that chemical menopause and HRT isn't great if you have a predisposition to Osteopenia/Osteoarthritis etc which I do. So I took the decision not to take a second Decapeptyl 3mg and to raw dog it with supplements and exercise. Problem is it's now been 2 weeks, I have the worst hot flashes I've ever… read more

I haven't been on Lupron/Decaphetyl personally, but I did a ton of research on it cause docs kept pushing for me to do it. It was originally created as a last stage treatment for men with prostate cancer. Meaning, it's for people who are dying and have nothing left to lose. Not meant for 1st go-to treatment. The drug is remarketed for women without any clinical trials cause it is legal to rebrand a drug for another sector of people and assume that the effectivity stats will be the same for a completely different disease. Also, a few years later, come to find out that men can get endo in their guts - except the only men (biologically born men) that have endo were men who were on Lupron. If you have osteoporosis too, it should be the treatment that is avoided, not recommended first! I hope you can address this with your doc and hopefully get sufficient answers! If you can get a 2nd opinion to kind of challenge your 1st doc, it might help too. Good luck!! ❤️

Hi there. I’m sorry you’re going through such a difficult time. I had to look up what Decapeptyl is and apparently in the US it’s called lupron which is what I was on for 6 months following my surgery. It’s been like 10 years since I’ve been on it but I do remember the hot flashes and my moods were more severe. I recently considered going back on lupron and they were going to prescribe norethindrone to help with the side effects. Did your doctor prescribe anything to help with your symptoms? I’m not sure if it works right away but it might be worth asking if they can give you anything to help ease your symptoms. I hope this passes for you soon and you find some relief! 💛
