What Are Some Questions You Wish You Would Have Asked For You Surgery?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

What do you wish you would have asked your doctor regarding surgery?

I have a consult tomorrow in regards to getting a second surgery. My first one was back in 2020 where they confirmed endo. I feel like I should have asked more questions but I didn't know enough about the disease.

Omg! I would definitely see another provider if you can stand the wait time.... im so sorry you are going through this ❤️ My ovaries were found severely adhered during my last surgery and orilissa never helped me either! You would think if orilissa didnt help then the shot may not help you in this case long term. Another skilled surgeon may be able to preserve your ovaries if you decide to become pregnant in the future. It just feels like doctors want to drag out the process instead of correcting the problem for us :(

I hope your surgery goes well. Thank you for telling me your experience. This will be a question I ask. My dog today told me if she does surgery she will take one ovary no matter what. I've never heard of that and it would be my second surgery ever. She doesn't want to operate and thinks my best option is to get pregnant. Im really tired of that being the only answer. I've failed all forms of BC, oralissa and now try the shot for temporary menopause. This is the last thing for me to try. She also said my ovaries are no in the normal location and appear to be stuck to my pelvic side walls. This concerns me but she didn't feel it was a big deal. Definitely seeing another provider for a second opinion. I hope you can get some relief with this next surgery!

I wish i would have asked if the dr will be doing excision vs ablation. Also wish i had asked about where they will be checking for endo as well as if they are skilled to remove it in tough areas. I have had endo removed from my left ureter twice and had other drs tell me they wont check in that area. Due to my last surgeon not removing all the endo im on surgery #4 next month since 2020.. my ovary has to be removed due to disease taking over.
