I’ve been suffering with very bad period pains since my teenage years, im now 36 years old. I’ve had all the pain medications, scans, contraceptive pill and depot injection but GP never took me serious. Until last year at my ultrasound scan I was asked if I was ever tested for endometriosis as ovaries very close together.
I had a laparoscopy last year and diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. The surgeon said that my ovaries were stuck to uterus wall and he managed to remove the adhesions… read more
Don't assume you are infertile. Find out for sure. How long were you on Depo for and when did you stop it? That could be a reason for not getting pregnant. I was on depo as well. Stopped it on my own as it was causing me to have suicidal ideations. Although I had stopped it, it still was working as birth control from the previous injections. I stopped depo Dec. 2019 and my flow started back in March or May. I expected it to start back in a year as I was told and read myself. Even when my period started back, I was having regular, frequent, unprotected sex with my now ex boyfriend and I never got pregnant. I assumed I was infertile that whole time as well until our relationship was ending in Dec. 2022 and I, lo and behold discovered I was pregnant. I have stage 4 Endo. Severe. The doctor stated. During my lap, all adhesions weren't cauterized as she stated they were too deep to reach. I had 2 surgeries for my Endo and a 3rd that was reproductive related.. I was told to have a hysterectomy back when I was 35 because as I age, my Endo would just worsen and there would be no chance for pregnancy. It was try to have a baby at 35 which may or may not happen due to my Endo and then a hysterectomy immediately afterwards. At 38, I became pregnant. I wasn't even trying. We were breaking up. Only having unprotected sex because I assumed I could since I was never getting pregnant or even having pregnancy scares. My point is, can't be too sure until you're really sure about infertility. Don't lose hope if pregnancy is what you want.
I know how you're feeling. I get it. I totally get it. If you go back and read some of my posts. You will see just how much I was dealing with. It was a lot to say the least. Please don't give up hope. Keep on doing what you're doing because one day you just might be surprised.
Thank you sooooooo much for this it is vey reassuring and I’m soo pleased for you!!! I’m at a stage where I do want to settle down in the next 12 months to actively try for a baby and have a family. I stopped the depo in September 2022 coincidently I had the laparoscopy in September too. My period seem back to normal and are regular every 26-28 days but the pain for first 4 days is debilitating I , I have ultra sound scan in a few weeks but I have had unprotected sex throughout even on the days I know there is a high chance of pregnancy! But I’ve never got pregnant so I really think I can’t! my partner has no idea and believes I’m on contraception and I just can’t believe this has happened to me.
