Yes, it can grow back. I also had a full hysterectomy in 2015 and since since I still get laps almost every 2 years to remove more endo. It helped me a ton though in other ways. I hope you have many pain free years and getting no periods anymore is such a blessing!

Hysterectomy did actually help certain things like the stabbing left ovary pain I had. Turns out my own freaking heartbeat was making the left ovary pain worse and constant. Overall, though, no, it didn't solve the pain. I've been progressively getting worse regardless of each surgery I've had. I really hope that's not the case for you! I wish there was a better answer for it! I still have my right ovary, so I didn't get a "complete" hysterectomy. Everything else is gone, though. Most of the people I've talked to who had a complete hysterectomy by choice (not an emergency trip kind of deal) have wondered how much easier recovery would've been without going through the menopausal hormone crash along with recovery from surgery. For some it was manageable with birth control and such, but many others took on a whole other struggle with it.

Yes, unfortunately. I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago and it just made the pain and issues worse. The only real positve thing the hysterectomy did for me was give me mental peace that I could never get pregnant again and be at death's door because of it. The symptoms might slow down for a while (fingers crossed), but endo comes back in the end. It's almost impossible to eradicate ALL of it since it can be on literally every organ on the body and some places are, more or less, inoperable.

It can come back. Usually does. Mine did. I just had my 3rd excision procedure, 3 years post total hysterectomy. Also, my doctor removed my appendix this time as well. I had lesions on my bowels and ureters, and some ovarian remnant tissue. It’s been a painful recovery but I will do it again if I have to.
Also, for anyone new to any of this, look into Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine. They are an amazing group of physicians, nationwide!

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member that’s great that you’re feeling better! A lot of women do after having one, fingers crossed it stays that way for you 🤍 I can only go off what doctors have told me and my own research, which is that there’s no cure :( but hysterectomy’s have been known to help alleviate symptoms so 🤞🏼 x
