I am still in great pain after my laparoscopy not even 6 months ago. I have cut dairy and gluten as well as alcohol. The doctor says its either surgery again or upping my orillissa for the 6th month dose. Has anyone had the same experience? Are there options or is this just life?
Thank you all so much! I hope your appointment goes (or went) well Mallory-Rene! I unfortunately already had an excision surgery and debating whether to do it again because the doctor I was working with for a second opinion said they could have missed some :( I am just so unsure and don't understand that if 1/10 women have endo, why there are so few treatment options.
I was reading on excision surgery and how it actually had improved pain symptoms on some patients. The article also said you have to a surgeon who is experienced w excision which not many exist? I agree with malorie-Renee. You have to do your own extensive research and be your own advocate. I have my post-op on Tuesday and I’m going to bring this up.
I am 63 and had endo since l was 14. So keep that in mind. Orissa was not an option before my hysterectomy. I take it now l take midol too. Middle works really well and they have a pill that relieves bloating also. Aleve is good also. If non of that works l went to a pain Mgmt Dr and got vicodin. I only used it to break the pain cycle .. l am using a golf ball l roll on to break the pain cycles. This is what works for me. Consult your Dr. I have had a hysterectomy and l still have pain adhesions and there are other hormones that can keep hormones feeding endo. I think endo is trying to invade my bowel and strangling it. I get some test results today and Friday. Have you heard about endosee. It's a new way that the gyno can remove endometriosis in his own office.
Hi Hannah. This was your second opinion doctor?
Did you get anything removed or it was just a clean up? Do you want organs removed or are you planning to have children?
I found a second opinion doctor and he was amazing to the point I changed my doctor at the last minute and had surgery yesterday. I was able to keep my ovaries and cervix. He removed my uterus and tubes.
Ironically my issues weren’t so much endo but adenomyosis which is something I was never diagnosed before. If you have to, get a third opinion.
What dose do they have you on?! And was your dr able to get everything in the surgery? I know for me that he couldn’t get everything, I’m stage 4 & my inflammation was so bad during my surgery that he couldn’t.. I’m on Orilissa but it seems to be working pretty well with me but I still struggle around ovulation time in period time
