My Ultrasound Or MRI Doesn't Suggest Endo. MRI Has Mentioned Early Stage Of Adenomyosis. Hence My Doctor Is Suggesting Me Mirena Iud
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

while I wanted a laproscopy and an iud later. I have already tried hormone therapy but it was not working for me because it is giving me depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts
If there is no evidence for endometriosis in mri does that means laproscopy is of no use? Plus I am not concerned about fertility ( 30 and don't want kids) I felt like since I don't want kids doctor doesn't seem laproscopy is necessary
I badly wanted to remove the existing adhesions because of my severe gastro… read more

From what I’ve heard, a lap is the best way to tell what’s really going on. MRIs don’t always pick up everything going on, and ultrasounds don’t always give a detailed picture of endo.
If you’re fine with dealing with the pain for the time being, try the IUD and see if that helps. But if it doesn’t, lap may be good to see what’s really going on, remove adhesions and see what else could be causing pain.
My first gyn suggested an IUD so I got one but my body couldn’t adjust to it and I just cramped the entire time, so I got it taken out. I even had an ultrasound to make sure it was placed correctly. I’m just saying this so you have a heads up in case that happens. However all my friends love theirs, so each body is different.
Idk if this helps but maybe exhaust all options before surgery?

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member It is still very possible to have Endo even without any MRI indications. My MRI showed nothing but Endo was excised during my surgery. Don't lose faith in yourself. If you know something is wrong with your body, you KNOW something is wrong with your body.

I think if you’re in this much pain and also have bowel issues and have lost most of the quality of your life, you should push for a surgery. Something clearly isn’t right in your body and it’s not fair.
Lots of (not all) gynecologists band aid things with birth control and will tell you “this is just how you’ll feel forever”. Which shouldn’t be the case- and usually there are underlying issues.
While some doctors don’t like to pursue surgery as your first option due to risks (even if it’s low, it’s still surgery), I do think you know what’s best for yourself. Never feel bad for advocating with what you believe is right for your body. Gynecological issues are so complicated, I know it’s exhausting fighting for answers but you can do this. Please keep us updated!

Laparoscopic is the only way they will know for sure and be able to remove it. I recommend Orillissa for the pain.

Thanks for the reply dear. I am really scared about iud.. especially since I am very sensitive to hormonal variations.. (her gave me intense suicidal thoughts which won't go away even with a good amount of lithium) my doctor seems to have the same opinion to try all options before lap. Especially since I have early stage of adenomyosis.
But my doubt is that does iud helps with the gastrointestinal problems? Sciatic nerve pain? Intense bloating? I am confused.. I am already bedridden for most of the month.. so not sure if I should try iud or push my doctor for a lap.
