How Long Should I Stay On The Birth Control Pill If Symptoms Seem To Be Getting Worse Not Better?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve been on Yaz BC for 4 months and now instead of having pain during ovulation and menses like before the pill, now I’m having pain almost every day and spotting all the time. The doctors keeps saying “wait and see if things even out” but I don’t know how long I should keep trying this pill . This doesn’t feel better

Birth control is not always the answer, I feel like it's a broad treatment recommended for anything related to the uterus. I went on it for 2 years as recommended and it was terrible, after I got off and started really paying attention to my body (countless ER and doctor visits, all but forcing my doctors to actually listen to me) I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I had to fight for myself and was able to get a conclusive diagnosis through a biopsy of one of my cysts on one of my ovaries.

I took that too and gained lots of weight immediately and had nonstop periods. The pain was slightly better, my mood was slightly better….. but after almost 6 months of periods I stopped. The doctors kept saying the same to me, but I got off of it. I felt better immediately, started having a normal period, and some of the weight came off.

Hi. I am not aware of Yaz BC, but I was in a similar condition some time ago. The doctor prescribed me contraceptives for endometriosis, and the medicine made me nauseous; I was losing my hair and was in pain, but it didn't help. I stopped the medication and felt so much better. The doctor insists on continuing the drug, but I recommend taking other doctors' opinions and telling them about your experience might help.
