I have a complex follicle on both ovaries with symptoms. Pain like I've eaten glass every 30 days that has happened for 5 months. Almost went to e.r. but cant afford it. Bloating and nauseated all the time now, downward pulling pressure, etc.
I am primarily on a plant based diet. Changed that years ago. I eat fish and seafood and only venison that I harvest myself. I stay away from processed food and haven't been in a restaurant in over 5 years, lol definitely no alcohol unless a rare celebration.
Yes I have the sausage grinder, bloating, and nausea around every 25 to 35 days for the last 5 months. I had 3 years of bliss after my hysterectomy. Probably because I didn't have 9 fibroids anymore causing havoc.
Has your surgeon dismissed the possibility of endometriosis returning after removal?
Unfortunately, some surgeons do dismiss that endometriosis can return, even though it's a well-documented reality. A MyEndometriosisTeam member shared their frustration about needing surgery every few years, noting "If I could go longer Show Full Answer
Yo! That's a lot of extra baggage. If there's no change in 2mos ask about having them removed. Stay busy so that time flies. If the pain you feel comes a week+ after your period, it could be ovulation; mine always felt like a shiv in lower abdomen/side (bright/sharp/intense) & lasted ~20minutes. It was followed by wicked nausea & hot flashes. Having a cyst rupture changed my perspective on pain level. If your pain lasts several days before your period, it could be Endo; mine felt like a sausage grinder or someone making slow, shallow cuts w/a dull & rusty razor blade (deep/achy/constant.) Despite it being heinous, my period was relief from the Endo. Oh, hormones are SO amazing.
Endoscopy may not be necessary. See what GI doc thinks after colonoscopy results. BRAT diet great for GI issues but wheat can trigger inflammation (=bloating.) A former naturopath had my primary grains be barley, oats, & rye (which I mischievously interpret as beer, granola, & whiskey--- YAY!!!) but alcohol is also a trigger. I eat lots of oats (granola & dairy-free milk) & wheat in heavy moderation (the treat that causes grief.) During your 2month wait, maybe investigate an anti-inflammatory diet. Once I ditched dairy, my cramps lightened by half. Yes, I miss cow cheese, specifically Swiss & permit 2 cubes at occasional art receptions. Once you can fine-tune triggers, they aren't so tempting.
This bullsh!t business is definitely a journey, the sightseeing tour no one intentionally joins. Travel wisely.
Thanks for your reply and advice. The left ovary has 1 complex cyst 2.5 cm and the right has 2 complex cysts that are 2.5 cm each. Waiting for another ultrasound in 2 months. Something is causing extreme bloating nausea and pains every 30 days like I ate glass for the last 5 months. Gas x, prilosec, tums, peppermint tea offer no relief. Been on brat diet all month. Will go for colonoscopy because I need one at my age anyway.
Should I ask for endoscopy too?
Have they already done an ultrasound? Are the cysts large enough to warrant laparoscopic surgery? They usually need to be ~5cm or severely impacting daily productivity. Ten+ yrs ago I had a lemon on the right & a lime on the left; in 6 hrs I blew up to 2nd trimester bulbous. They operated to drain cysts but the one on the rt abscessed & I got ultrasounds every 2 most to monitor. It failed to clear in 6mos & that doctor removed ovary & tube. I still get occasional cysts on leftie: protocol is to see if it clears w/following cycle & has thus far. It wouldn't hurt to get a GI assessment; maybe you have bowel adhesions or other complications. I have massive adhesion joining uterus & large intestine; when I had my period, bowel movements were gruelling. I knew I had some sort of bowel anomaly since middle school & my first official colonoscopy determined I have a rare twisting segment; the adhesion is bonus complication. Thankfully the plumbing is healthy. If you have insurance, find out everything you can. Peri is purgatory but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm looking forward to it.
