I have been so nauseous and have had the worst sharp stabbing pains since being on it for about 6 weeks. It doesn't feel better and just makes me feel worse. I am worried that there is no point for taking it longer but my dr wants to try for 3 months min.

Are you experiencing severe side effects from Orilissa, including nausea and sharp stabbing pains after 6 weeks?

It's understandable to feel concerned when a medication causes significant side effects. Nausea is a known side effect of hormonal treatments for endometriosis, and some members have reported similar experiences with various medications.

While your doctor wants to give the medication a full 3-month trial to see if symptoms improve, it's important to communicate how severe your side effects are. Sometimes it takes time for your body to adjust, but severe symptoms that aren't improving after 6 weeks deserve attention.

Here are some things to consider:

* Document your symptoms daily, including severity and timing
* Contact your doctor before the 3-month mark if symptoms are unbearable
* Ask about strategies to manage nausea while continuing treatment
* Discuss whether the current side effects outweigh potential benefits

For nausea specifically, some strategies that have helped members include:

* Eating small, frequent meals with bland foods
* Trying ginger tea or ginger ale
* Keeping crackers or pretzels nearby
* Avoiding greasy or fatty foods
* Staying hydrated with clear fluids

The sharp stabbing pains you're experiencing should definitely be discussed with your doctor, as they need to determine if this is related to the medication or your endometriosis itself.

Trust your instincts about your body. If something feels seriously wrong, don't wait the full 3 months to reach out to your healthcare provider.
