Unilateral vs. Bilateral Oophorectomy

Unilateral vs. Bilateral Oophorectomy

Has anyone out there had either a unilateral or bilateral oophorectomy in conjunction with excision/ablation, possibly in their mid to late 30s or early 40s? Have you been happy with your results? Have you had symptoms return? In October of 2016, I had an excision/ablation surgery, felt great for 5 months, and then my symptoms returned. Currently I’ve been on Lupron for almost 2 years and actually do really well, except for the surges towards the end of one shot and then… read more

Excision Surgery

Excision Surgery

I’m in Michigan and I love my dr but I believe he used the laser in my lap surgery last May (that also ended up with the removal of my tube and ovary). I have pain from the surgery and now he is recommending a hysterectomy. I swear he told me at the time he had a bunch of endo on my bowels he couldn’t touch but now is saying it was clear,

This group is also nearby. I’m not on fb so I don’t know if they’re on the nook or not:

Just had a lap, and no endo?

Just had a lap, and no endo?

I've been experiencing severe pelvic pain since I was about 9 (for 12 years now), to the point I collapse and have fainted a few times. Endometriosis runs on both sides of my family but I've always been dismissed by doctors. In September I finally had enough after getting into a car accident because the pain hit suddenly and caused my swerve into oncoming traffic. I found a new doctor, and the first appointment he said it sounds like endo. Ultrasounds, endoscopy and colonoscopy all… read more

Doctor says endo can't come back after excision

Doctor says endo can't come back after excision

I went for my one year post op appointment today and met up with my gynaecologist- he says that I shouldn't still be having endo symptoms as he removed it and it cannot come back like that (although I've read many stories where it has).
Instead he said he recommends not getting any more excision surgeries for endometriosis until I have a family- he also said that he advises I start thinking about having a family as it could become an issue the later I leave it (if… read more

Return of endometriosis after extensive resection & Mirena

Return of endometriosis after extensive resection & Mirena

Hi there

I am 40 years old and 6 weeks ago I had my 4th surgery for severe stage IV endometriosis. I had to travel to see an endometriosis excision specialist after my previous surgery 10 months prior, the endo came back within 3 months of surgery.

The endometriosis was very severe and everything was stuck together and there was large bilateral endometriomas and rectal involement. My specialist put in a Mirena after the surgery and I have been bleeding… read more

Who should I go to for excision surgery?

Who should I go to for excision surgery?

2 doctors said I have had too many surgeries and won’t touch me and the others want $20,000 3 weeks before they will even do the surgery.

Has anyone struggled with low estrogen levels for no obvious reason?

Has anyone struggled with low estrogen levels for no obvious reason?

I'm specifically asking women who still have their ovaries and are premonopause are not on any hormone inhibitors (like Lupron). It is so weird to me because it starting showing in my bloodwork after excision surgery and my hysterectomy (complete, not radical) that I have low estrogen levels. I figured it was my body adjusting to the excising of the endometriomas as well as maybe the removal of my tubes, but the low estrogen has continued to… read more

Unsure of diagnosis, can you relate to these symptoms?

Unsure of diagnosis, can you relate to these symptoms?

Hey ladies, I posted previously indicating my doctor is treating me with Visanne and a blood thickner for SUSPECTED Endo. I myself thought I had it years ago, but reading all these posts, I'm not so sure... I know youre not docs but in your opinions if it sounds like endo please let me know. I'd hate to be treating something that's not even there.
