What questions did you ask your surgeon before Laparoscopy?

What questions did you ask your surgeon before Laparoscopy?

I do have a fairly lengthy list, but want to make sure I'm asking everything I might possibly need or want to know at my pre-op.

Thanks in advance!

Treatment Options

Treatment Options

Hi,
I am going in for my post-op appointment in a few days, and I know my doctor wants to change my treatment. I have endo all over my uterus, colon, and rectum, and they were not able to remove any during my last surgery. I’ve been on several oral contraceptives, but all have made me feel even worse than I do with nothing. The last one made me gain 30 pounds and bleed nonstop the entire time I was taking it. I have read that IUDs can be an option, but I don’t have any experience with that. I… read more

Orilissa

Orilissa

Hello everyone, my obgyn is suggesting I try taking Orilissa to help with endometriosis pain, and that it will shrink the lesions. Is this true? I’ve read it helps with pain but I’ve never heard anything about it possible shrinking or curing endo at all. She wants to avoid a 10th surgery but I’ve tried every other BC method available and nothing has helped except ablation, my last surgery was in 2015. Should I try this pill out or push for surgery?

Laparoscopy diagnosis

Laparoscopy diagnosis

Hi,

I recently had my laparoscopy, after speaking to the doctor he said I had it on my left ovary, pelvic wall he also mentioned it was on my bladder and abdominal wall. Now I’ve read up about the abdominal wall which apparently is rear and you get it if you have a c section which I haven’t had I don’t have any children. Just wondering if anyone else has also been told this? He also mentioned going back in 4 months not too sure if that would be for more surgery I was still a bit out of it… read more

pain during transvaginal ultrasound

pain during transvaginal ultrasound

I recently was diagnosed with suspected endometriosis due to unbearable pain and digestive issues during my period and sharp stabbing pains especially during ovulation. I went today to get a routine pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound to see if there is anything else that could be causing this. The pap smear/pelvic exam went fine, but the ultrasound was terrible. The way my ovaries are positioned, she had to push the device quite hard at weird angles to see them. It felt… read more

Endometrioma

Endometrioma

I have an endometrioma on my right ovary, I have had it for about a year now and I am waiting to be able to afford surgery hopefully within the next 6 months. Anyway I have started feeling sharp pains more frequently on my left side. I’m really worried because I want to protect my good ovary. I can’t afford to see my usual doctor but I was wondering if anyone knows if once you have an endometrioma on one ovary if I have a high chance of getting one on my other ovary?

Pain after surgery

Pain after surgery

I had laparoscopic surgery about a week and a half ago, and I still cannot pee without being in terrible pain. It doesn’t feel like a UTI to me; it’s a pain that starts around my bellybutton and then kind of fans outward from there and lasts a few minutes. But it’s bad enough that I can’t stand or breathe very well. I did call my surgeon, but he wasn’t available and the nurse I talked to told me not to worry about it. But I’m worrying anyway. Have any of you ever experienced anything like… read more

I had pain, but only for 2-3 days after at the most. I would call again if you don't feel like it is improving.

How to get pain meds?

How to get pain meds?

So I had larascopic ablation and cyst removal done about two weeks ago. The dr prescribed tramadol for the pain. Unfortunately I left the script for the meds in my friends care who i cant get ahold of. I had a few pills left from a previous prescription but I'm down to 3 pills. Problem is that suddenly my pain has come back full force and now that I'm back at work I need the meds to get through my shift. I heard some people where able to get meds prescribed through pain clinics. How do I… read more
