Living with the pain of endometriosis can lead to a lot of questions about the unknown, from how to approach your diagnosis to managing fertility to forging a career path. To help answer those questions for the 1 in 10 women with endometriosis, MyEndometriosisTeam partnered with the Endometriosis Foundation Of America for Endometriosis Awareness Month.

EndoFound ambassador and former U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer joined MyEndometriosisTeam co-founder Mary Ray for a passionate conversation on thriving with endometriosis.

Finkenauer shared information about her endometriosis symptoms and how she pushes through the pain. She also offered sterling advice for people to be their own advocates based on experiences throughout her life, both personal and professional.

Check out the video of the entire 40-minute conversation. Other topics Finkenauer discussed include:

  • Advocating with doctors to ease your symptoms
  • Navigating fertility concerns
  • Necessary steps to endometriosis awareness and change

Abby Finkenauer
Endometriosis Foundation of America ambassador and spokesperson Abby Finkenauer has lived with endometriosis since her early 20s. Starting in March 2020, she courageously advocated for the condition during her role as a United States representative. She is the daughter of a union pipefitter welder and a public school secretary who grew up in Sherrill, Iowa, a small town just outside of Dubuque. Her whole life, Abby stood with working families like the one she grew up in. In 2018, she took that fight to Congress, where she represented Northeast Iowa in the 1st Congressional District. Now, Finkenauer is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate.
