Has Anyone Tried To Go Wheat Or Gluten Free? Did It Work?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I keep reading blogs about where people have cut wheat, red meat, alcohol and/or gluten out and its made huge differences to their pain/symptoms?

Hi, I have had really good results cutting out red meat, soy and wheat. I stil have Rye and organic Spelt sometimes. I have not yet fully cut out coffee and alcohol, but REALLY cut back on sugar. Pretty much just rely on natural sugars: dates, bananas etc... I got all this advice from a friend who had 3 surgical treatments and finally changed her diet. She's doing really well so far. She notices her belly swells right up and has pain even if she has one piece of tofu. Good luck!

I did whole30 and it got rid of the bloat and my energy went through the roof. I now know that I'm sensitive to wheat and dairy which both give me terrible headaches and sugar zaps my energy. I didn't bother with actual gluten free products as I tried to stick to whole foods that were minimally processed rather than gluten substitutes.

My only caution to people going on the Gluten Free diet is this: the substitute GF baked goods are so full of sugar and starches that you are really better off just avoiding grains. I am a baker, I bake Gluten Free products because my boss is Celiac. She also avoids eating baked goods and only looks at them for treats. Even bread etc....her approach to Gluten Free is more focused on vegetables, grains like quinoa, brown rice, lentils, and good organic meats like chicken and pork.
Just something to keep in mind, do some research. Wheat free might be the better way to go if you're looking at cutting out Gluten. You should see the sugar and starches and stuff I put in GF baked goods! They are delicious though!
