A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doc said this may be my last option before considering a hysterectomy
Who has tried it and what kind or emprovements if any?
How long before spotting and full periods stopped?
Any and all info would be great!

I just started Visanne last Friday . Iam on a cancellation list for a Hysterecromy and if I don't get in on a cancellation Iam looking at October . I was on Visanne before over a year ago ( possibly longer ) and I had never ending bleeding( months at a time but it did help with the pain) . I was taken off of it because the bleeding was so severe . He suggested me trying it again since my last laprascopy . ( he removed my left ovary, tubes, did an ablation and removed any Endo), freed my right ovary from my bladder, determined I also have Adenomyosis ) . Already I am having nausea, and mood swings . Iam going to try and stick with it until my Hysterectomy. So far no bleeding but it has only been a few days

Hi Kimberlee, I've used Visanne before and I found that it did help quite a bit. It didn't completely take away the pain but definitely brought it down to a dull pain. However, for me, I found that the side effects were a bit overwhelming and I wasn't fully reaping the benefits of Visanne. The side effects I found most hectic were the acne inflammation, mood swings, and of course, weight gain. I would seriously recommend trying it and try your hardest to stick to it regardless of the side effects. What it does is, it basically takes your body into an earlier menopause. I've always found that a hysterectomy is a bit of an extreme take for endometriosis and that if you have another option, you should definitely take it. Hope this helps!

A hysterectomy only helps in 2 cases. 1 is adenomyosis and 2 is if all the endo in your body is contained on the organs removed. 60% of the endo in my body was on Mt left abdominal wall muscle. Hysto would have offered 0 relief. The endo was involved in a nerve network that kept me from walking unassisted. Excision via vaporization is the best way to treat it.
