Is Anyone Else Incapable Of Wearing Tampons? If So, Are There Any Other Alternatives Besides Pads To Use For Swimming, Water Sports, Etc?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I cannot wear tampons for they cause me too much pain and discomfort. Each time I try it never works- I can't even walk when I have a tampon in. So I've had to resort to pads but this poses an issue for when I'm on period and need to swim
Are there any alternatives or something to get rid of the pain?!

I use a diva cup and it took me a few tries to figure out how to comfortably wear the menstrual cup. I find that using a water based lube helps a TON with insertion if penetration is painful for you (it is for me) and doesn't effect the cups fit or protection. I wear mine when working out and in the shower (haven't tried swimming with it yet). There are a lot of brands out there in terms of menstrual cups, it might take a few tries or some brand experimenting but in my experience they are far more comfortable than tampons, plus there is no risk of tss and you only have to clean it 2-3 times a day.

I'm hesitant to try them just because they're something totally new to me but I appreciate it. I recently went to the doctor and she recommended the cups as well. Thanks so much!

I have heard that menstual cups actually help some women with endo, and can be less painful/uncomfortable than tampons. I haven't tried the myself but thinking about trying them for the same reason. I hope you find a solution
