So yesterday at my appointment with my new specialist, she asked if I had ever tried physical therapy for my pain (there was a specific name for the pt but I cannot remember what it was called for the life of me!). She was extremely surprised that I had never been offered this form of treatment by any doctor before, so she made me schedule an appointment for my first session before I left. My question is, have any of you ever tried this form of therapy?? My Dr. said that her patients love it… read more
I have found the physical therapy the most important part of my healing. The internal massage is essentially where the PT will massage the left and right side of your vaginal wall. This is extremely important in strenghthening your abdominals because those muscles inside the vagina are what hold up the abdominals and also support your hip flexors. A lot of the pain can (and in my case is) caused by my muscle spasms, and so this therapy allows my muscles, especially the ones I cannot reach, to be able to be relaxed, and become stronger. It is, of course, a little awkward at first, but once you find a PT you like and feel like you can trust, and you take someone with you, like a close friend or a spouse, the discomfort goes away pretty fast. It's all very professional. I hope that helps!
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member thank you! @AlyceHeorgeKim I'm extremely nervous. I have very, very bad anxiety and I dont like to be touched at all! I know this is very important for me to do and that it will help me, I'm just scared a little. I'm gonna try anyway though! When my doc did my pap she said I was really tense. Not to get personal, but I have such extreme pain that I can't even wear tampons. I really want to give this a try if it will help!
Ill be seeing the pt at the University of Illinois at Chicago, that's where I also see my Endo specialist. Its an hour drive from my house, but its worth it. Thank u so much for your help, Ill check out the link right now. @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member
