Hi there, I'm on my second Mirena now. My first one worked well but I started getting swollen painful breasts after 3 1/2 years and decided it may be the cause and had it removed. The side effect of having it removed was an unplanned pregnancy lol -while on the pill at the ripe old age of 36 after initially being told it was unlikely I could have kids. I decided to try it again and had one fitted during my last laporoscopy surgery where I was also diagnosed with Adenomyosis..yay me! It's been 3 1/2 years this time and no issues. You do have to be patient for it to settle down. It will take between 6-9 months in my experience to slow, lighten and eventually stop your period. I just love it for this reason as my bleeding was horrible. I have heard stories both pro and con and what works for one doesn't work for another but I'm trying to put off a hysterectomy and it works for me. I know other Endo sufferers personally that have loved it too. The beauty of it is if it doesn't work for you you simply get it removed, it's not permanent. Hormonally it's the equivalent to taking only one birth control pill a week so the hormonal side effects aren't as bad as some others. I wish you all the best on your Endo journey.
